simply saturday

It’s a beautiful Saturday here. Sun, blue sky, and only 13C as the temperature heads up to 17 in the afternoon.
I love the beautiful simplicity of laundry on the line.
I love seeing it hanging on my clothesline in my yard with my garden.
A certain someone was up this morning by 5:30 (after going to bed nearly 3 hours past his bedtime last night). Once I stumbled around for awhile and then joined the land of the living, by 10 o’clock I had managed to wash two loads of bedding and hang them on the line along with some miscellaneous laundry
items, put away a basket of previously-folded laundry, unload and load the dishwasher, and wash the non-dishwasherable things by the sink. I abhor washing plastic and am trying to completely switch over to glass storage. I’m also attempting to wash them every day so they don’t accumulate.
I’ve been looking at my house a lot this week and getting warm fuzzies over it. I’m crazy impressed with how much painting the outside has changed the look of it. I still have to put a second coat on the front and back but we did the two sides yesterday and were done by 1:30. The second coat went so much quicker than the first so I’m not dreading having to do the front and back by myself. I plan to tackle one or both of those on Monday while B is in school because it’s back to work for me on Tuesday.
Inside the house, I’m still waiting on my installer (a friend of my mom’s) to come and install the laminate flooring in the kitchen and living room. Once that is done, I’ll be re-arranging the living room to accommodate a small dining table (4-person at the most and possibly with a leaf for expansion). To do that, I’ll need to get rid of my couch, keeping only my loveseat and armchair; we never sit on the couch anyway. I think I’ll have room for another armchair but I’ll have to wait to see once the table is in. The table will be something simple and relatively inexpensive as I’ll be selling it again in a couple of years when my boyfriend and I marry and combine our houses. And - ooh! - I just realized that with a table, I’ll be able to do a table runner and centerpiece of flowers or a great basket. The excitement never ends!
The first two of the following pictures were of the kitchen and living areas just after I got possession of the house and before I did a few renovations on the kitchen.
And after, nearly done.
I’ll have to take before pictures of the upper floor as it is now before the upcoming changes.
