glutton for punishment

The floor isn’t even finished and I’m already devising new things to do. I mentioned yesterday that there isn’t a lot that I can do to this house that won’t just be a matter of tossing money away (in the grand scheme of resale) but this "plan" is both practical and a plus when selling. It’s called a closet. In the back entrance. Where there is currently no closet.
I also need to get a railing up around the edge.
As I was watching the installation of the laminate in the kitchen this afternoon, I wondered out about how relatively simple it might be to put a wall in the main floor bedroom reducing the length of the room by about three feet and cutting a large hole/doorway in the back entrance wall (which lies on the other side of the bedroom) between the door frame and the stove pipe to create a coat and storage closet.
A different angle makes for a totally different colour in the early morning light.
I’m envisioning a closet with a long storage area to the left of it once you’re inside. Maybe looking like a regular closet but with a door in its left wall? It would make an awkward space in the bedroom to have an alcove resulting from the closet jutting in so instead I’d have storage space running all the way to the outside wall of the house, crossing over the stairwell.
My floor guy said it would be simple and he could do it for me. So I just might do that. If I ever put a railing up around the stairs in the entrance, I won’t have room for my coat tree anyway.
